Mr Football’s 26th of August, 2013 Dribble

This weeks Premier league action threw up a massive surprise, yes I’m speaking of Cardiff’s first home game in the Premier league causing the biggest upset by beating a multi million dollar side in Manchester City. I bet most bookies are still scratching their heads over this result. I’m sure it wont effect Manchester City’s title challenge a great deal, but this is the reason why the premier league is one of the best leagues in the world. To watch this game was like watching the bully in the play ground, Manchester City constantly beating their opponent only to not land the right punches and to see the new kid come back with 3 massive upper cuts and knocking its opponent to the ground. I’m sure the Bluebird supporters will still be singing their song in the streets today after this great result.

In other games Brendan Rogers took his Liverpool team to Villa Park. This was going to be a real test for Liverpool with Aston Villa having already shoocked us all with a good win over Arsenal and a hard fought loss to Chelsea mid week. Paul Lambert’s team wasn’t going to be an easy 3 points. For 35 minutes Liverpool dominated the game and deservedly took the lead through a magnificent goal from the resurgent Daniel Sturridge. After the break it was a different story, Aston Villa came out and took it to Liverpool and if it wasnt for a late save by Liverpool’s keeper Mignolet, they could of easily got a point in this game.

Mark Hughes and his Stoke side would feel a little bit relieved after their opening game defeat, then going a goal down to newly promoted Crystal Palace but managed to grab 2 late goals to take all 3 points.

Arsene Wenger got his side back on track with a good win over Martin Jol’s Fulham side with a comprehensive 3-1 victory.

Everton and West Bromwich Albion cancelled each other out in a nil all score. Hull City grabbed its first win of the season despite being reduced to 10 men over a very good Norwich side. Newcastle finally got themselves a point in another nill all draw against West Ham despite having up to 12 shots off target, it could be a real tough year for Allen Pardew and his troops, especially with one of his main midfielders going on strike, wishing for a transfer.

For the other team in Wales, Swansea are rooted to the bottom of the table, but give them credit for facing Manchester United and the Hotspurs in their first 2 games for the season, that was always going to be tough. Also in another fixture it we saw Sunderland take an early lead away from home against Southhampton , for Southhampton to come back and get a well deserved equalizer and share the points.

Tommorow morning brings together 2 titans of the league when Manchester United host Chelsea at Old Trafford. I’m predicting a a fiesty but some what cagey game. I am sure both teams will not want to open up to much so it could be a very defense minded game especially with both teams having the fire power they both have. My prediction a 1 all draw.
